Whitemarsh Valley Inn

In 1853, this three story building was constructed to house the Marble Hall Lodge of the Odd Fellows, a charitable fraternal organization. The name is explained from the fact that organizations that rendered aid to members in times of need were exceedingly rare. Strong feelings against secret societies were great. Hence, this building looked like numerous other structures along Germantown Pike. The two lower floors constituted two dwellings, and the meeting hall was the entire third floor. The lodge was kept alive until 1925. After prohibition, the two dwellings were converted to one and became a tavern known as the Marble Hall Inn. It functions as such until 1971 at which time it was renamed The Wooden Nickel Tavern. In 1990 the building was renovated and on November 8th, 1991, we opened as the Whitemarsh Valley Inn. The Old Fellows meeting hall on the third floor is still intact-including the stage where shows took place. A little history still remains.

Since our doors opened in 1991, the idea behind the Whitemarsh Valley Inn was to offer a Fine Dining menu with Traditional American Classics. Today our menu offers 30 appetizers, 46 entrees and 20 lite fare dishes. A few favorites are our succulent Prime Rib, Savory Lamb Chops, Crab Cakes (no filers, just lump crab meat!), Snapper Soup and Fried Oysters. Included is a choice of Garden, Caesar or Spinach salad along with potato, veg or pasta. Our Menu will satisfy even the hardiest of appetites!

Whitemarsh Valley Inn was designed with a rich, colonial décor, wood paneling and picture lighting. The affect is cozy and welcoming.

It's not only the food and atmosphere that sets Whitemarsh Valley Inn apart.
